Transitions - new site and email!
OPENSOURCE Art is currently in transition. We are moving from being a sited organization to a non-sited organization. In other words, OPENSOURCE Art at one time had a space that it used as a home base, where exhibitions, events and activities could take place. We are currently experimenting with even greater openness in our organization. We are a mobile organization acting as a fiscal support for various cultural producers engaging interesting public projects. Currently, the city is our site and the broadest public our audience.
We are also in the process of migrating our website! Please visit and bookmark our new site – http://opensource-art.org
We also have a new contact email - Please visit us at our new web location for up-to-date information on OPENSOURCE Art activity!

Art Bike Ride/Parade

OPENSOURCE Art is taking to the streets. Make yourself and your bike into moving artwork and travel through Champaign-Urbana during Boneyard Arts Festival. Paint your body, put streamers on your bike, make a float, construct a moving sculpture, pump up some music, whatever. All are welcome, the more the merrier! Artists, activists, poets, writers, etc. are encouraged to bring distributable work to pass out to the Boneyard crowd that will already be on the streets. Inspired by bicycle enthusiasm and activism as seen in events such as Critical Mass and World Naked Bike Ride, OPENSOURCE wants to mix art, bikes and parades to create an awesome art spectacle in Champaign-Urbana.
Friday, April 18
4:30pm: meet at the fountain in West Side Park (300 W University Ave, Champaign) for last min decorating and organization.
6:00-7:30pm: RIDE (we will have leaders in front navigating a route of Boneyard venues)
7:30pm-whenever: Awards Ceremony for the best bikes and hangout/debriefing time (back at West Side Park)

OPENSOURCE Art enters a new phase...

The building on Washington Street where we have been renting space has been sold. This means that OPENSOURCE Art is looking for a new home.
We anticipate several "transition" months while we look for the right space. During this time we will continue to meet regularly and may host events at venues around town. We welcome all suggestions for potential new homes so keep your eyes peeled for a space that you think could be a good fit for OPENSOURCE. We'll be sure to keep you posted on the progress of the move. In the meantime, we are planning some awesome events so stay tuned!
