OPENSOURCE Art will host a continuation of local artist Nick Brown’s “Informal Film Series About Place” on Thursday, December 9 from 7 – 10pm at OPENSOURCE headquarters in north downtown Champaign at the corner of Neil and Washington Streets (12 E. Washington St.). The screening will feature films by 4 nationally-recognized independent filmmakers:
Christopher Harris, “Still/Here” (16mm film)
Stephanie Gray, selected Super8 short films (on vhs)
Bill Brown, “The Next Best Place,” four films (on dvd)
Jason Massot, “Seafarers” featuring a score by Will Oldham (on vhs)
These films about place each share a loose affinity for exploring through the medium of film and sound the characteristics that make places unique (or not) and how aspects of locations or sites become organized by human interpretation and activity into indentifiable spaces.
The Screening is free and open to the public, but donations are appreciated to help support operating costs and the work of the filmmakers.
