OPENSOURCE Art has always been dedicated to the union of arts events and kick-ass parties: just ask the audience of spring 2005 shows like My Body is My Billboard and An Evening With Dan Chaon, which featured DJs and dancing alongside T-Shirt art and experiments in narrative form.
But with "Love Like You Need It, Dance Like You Mean It," OPENSOURCE has declared war on non-dancing art. Says OPENSOURCE Co-Director Jennifer Danos: “There’s no bourgeois sell-out ‘art’ here, man. My mambo is my only muse.” House DJ, Donovan Finn, agrees. Speaking by cellphone from his tour of California, Finn contrasted the splendid post-post-punk-slash-disco stylings of The Rapture with the “piss poor doodlings” of those other New York artists, Pollock and De Kooning.
