BIRTHDAY SUIT: An Exhibition and Sale of Artist-Made Clothing
OPENing Night: Fri Dec 9, 7-10pm
OPENhours: Sat & Sun 12-6; second Fri 4-8
OPEN: Dec 9-19
OPENSOURCE Art, 12 E. Washington Street, Champaign
We invite artists and designers to produce, exhibit, and sell their own t-shirts, shorts, shoes, gowns, hats, belts, lingerie, MC Hammer pants … whatever. There’s no theme and only one rule: All items must come in an edition of at least five. That’s right, multiple wearables only. However, even though we expect items within the edition to be somewhat consistent, we don’t mind if they’re not identical.
Deadline for submissions: November 28, 2005
Exhibition dates: December 5 – December 19
Opening Reception: December 9, 7-10pm
Guidelines
There is no entry fee and artists may submit as many separate editions as they like. However, OPENSOURCE will retain a 20% commission on all sales in order to offset operating costs. Since Birthday Suit is an unjuried show, there’s no need to send us a proposal. Just ship items to:

Questions? Email opensource@boxwith.com or call Summer Jellison Hart on (217) 721-3716.
Unsold clothing will be shipped back to the participants and paid for by deducting the shipping costs from the artist’s 80% share of sales income. In the unlikely event that sales do not cover the return cost of shipping, OPENSOURCE will contact the artist and request a check for return postage. Local participants may contact OPENSOURCE to arrange to drop off and pick up submissions in person. Include return postage information: materials that cannot be returned will become donations to
OPENSOURCE. OPENSOURCE is not responsible for lost or damaged material.
