THE EXCHANGE PROJECT

WEDNESDAY MAY 31, 2006
7-9pm

OPENSOURCE Art is proud to present the Exchange Project - a cross-border performance of free trade surveillance. Multi-disciplinary artist Nancy Nisbet, now a Class 1 licensed “trucker”, will drive a transport truck over 30,000km through Canada, the United States and Mexico. Along the way she will engage in “free trades” of her personal possessions with peopleshe encounters. When trades have been negotiated between the artist (or her proxies) and the attendee, the new items will then be RFID tagged and entered into the Exchange Project inventory system. Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology labels her belongings in an effort to raise awareness of the technology and the potential threats that its use brings to issues of personal privacy. For more information on RFID technology visit: http://rfidtimes.blogspot.com

You are invited to trade with the Exchange Project in person on Wednesday May 31, 2006 from 7-9pm. We encourage you to bring items that tell a story; trades are not based on economic value, but on community values, sharing of stories, histories and experiences.
