Forgotten and Altered : Donald Rasmussen and Colin Edgington

OPENSOURCE Art hosts Forgotten and Altered, an exhibition of new photographs by Donald Rasmussen and Colin Edgington. Donald and Colin are Master of Fine Arts students in photography at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
Donald Rasmussen has photographed the spaces many of us overlook. The stairs, at one time leading from the street to a dwelling, go unnoticed as they lead nowhere in particular. The second series of photographs, the lobbies, are photographed at night, a time when the businesses shut down and no one comes to visit.
Colin Edgington is interested in the relationship between man and nature. More specifically that interest is in the relationship between ourselves and the natural environment that surrounds us. The work is a representation of our need to control nature as well as the ambivalence many of us feel towards it through a single ambiguous character.
