Fiscal Fitness: Fundraiser for Boneyard Arts

Dear Friends of OPENSOURCE,

We are organizing our first fundraising event in coordination with Boneyard Arts Festival. Fiscal Fitness for OPENSOURCE Art.

OPENING: Thursday, April 19, 2007, 7-10pm. Performances begin at 7pm.

Viewing Hours: Friday April 20 4-7, Saturday April 21, 12-5, and Sunday April 22, 12-5

Fiscal Fitness is a chance for OPENSOURCE volunteers to produce art in exchange for your support. Volunteers will do a variety of playful physical activities as performances. Whether it is jump-rope, four-square, or a dated exercise tape, we are recording our movements. The visual residue of our actions will create original artifacts. By sponsoring our actions, you not only support OPENSOURCE Art, you receive an original artwork.

How it works: Sponsorship by the Square Foot: For every $25 donation, you will receive a square foot of mark-making artifact from your sponsored activity. For every $10 you donate, you will receive a 6 inches square of mark-making artifact from your sponsored activity.

To sponsor: Come to the event or openhours / mail a check to OPENSOURCE Art, 12 E. Washington, Champaign, IL 61820/ Drop a check by OPENSOURCE Art.

What OPENSOURCE Art does: OPENSOURCE Art is a reflexive art space: we operate on the generosity of volunteers interesting in creating an alternative artspace that responds to proposals generated from within OPENSOURCE, the local community, as well as national and international projects. As a non-commercial space, we host events that focus on the exchange of ideas.

Our GOAL: OPENSOURCE is striving to collect $3,000 in donations. OPENSOURCE is totally volunteer run. Participating volunteers will donate 100% the proceeds directly to OPENSOURCE, providing basic operating needs and programming. If we reach our goal, OPENSOURCE would like to start an artist-in-residence program.
