Chris Mann: Classical Guitarist

OPENSOURCE Art hosts classical guitarist Chris Mann.

Chris Mann, born and raised in Berlin, Germany, received his first guitar lessons at age 3 from Michael Koeppe, an internationally known Suzuki guitar teacher. At age 7 he won first place in the solo competition "Jugend Musiziert." In ensuing years, he placed first in various guitar competitions in Berlin. At age 12 he was accepted for study at the Berlin Conservatory with Professor Martin Rennert.

Chris lived in Naperville for a few years starting in 1999, studying with Professor Anne Waller of Northwestern University, and attending the Chicago Academy for the Arts. In 2001 he won the Society of American Musicians high school division guitar competition.

Chris returned to study once more under Professor Rennert at the University of Arts in Berlin. Today at age 22 he is a student of Professor Thomas Mueller-Pering at the Franz Liszt University in Weimar. His goal is to compete in renowned international competitions around the world.
